Our DiscoverU and Electives Speaker Series

Local and International speakers share the story of their life, career, and faith journey with students in the DiscoverU classes.

Some of the featured speakers in the 2022-2023 School Year were:

  • Dr. Josphine Ngaru from Nairobi, Kenya. Dr. Josphine is on staff at All Saints Cathedral in Nairobi and works with people in the Kibera slums. The Kibera slums hold over 1 million people from Somalia, Uganda, South Sudan, and Kenya.
  • Mr. Christopher Mims from the Army Corp of Engineers shared about the Army’s work around the Charleston area.
  • Izabella McMillon is an immigrant from Romania who grew up under communism. She shared her story of life in Romania under Nicolae Ceausescu and her journey as an Operation Christmas Child recipient.
  • Mr. David Wright from Charleston, SC. Veteran Military Police in Vietnam, David is currently CFO of an entrepreneurial business developing GPS-free location devices for the military and private companies.
